BBGM provided architectural design services for this MGM project which includes 400 hotel keys, 50 serviced apartments, 300 residential units, and 50 villas. The site is located approximately 3 miles from the iconic pyramids of Giza.
The site for this complex is formed by a deep depression that forms a “cliff” with an angle that leads the orientation of all the elements of this complex. The facades are screens that help with the solar gain and tie to the local screens used for this purpose. The smaller scale villas use the traditional local arrangement of spaces in a courtyard that features a water element in the center to naturally cool down the surrounding spaces. The hotel’s proximity to the cliff and the water feature at the bottom create a chimney effect that helps cooling the building and provides surreal views.
