ENR recently released its “Top 100” rankings for Green Buildings Contractors as well as Green Buildings Design Firms, showcasing the sustainable design efforts of design and construction companies in all market sectors.
In its first year submitting, BBGM made the cut for Top 100 Green Buildings Design Firms, coming in at #96 on the list. According to the report, only 3.5% of sustainable design fees were attributed the Hotels sector and 3.9% attributed to the Multi-Unit Residential sector, while Commercial Offices tops the charts at a whopping 18.1% of sustainable design revenue. Overall, sustainable design revenue is up across the board, comprising $6.21 billion in design fees for the Top 100 Green Design Firms.
The report accompanying the ENR rankings goes into greater detail on challenges facing these Top Green Buildings Firms, particularly with the increasingly stringent and complex requirements of LEED v4, compounded by the expansion of alternative sustainable rating and certification options and an increasingly intelligent client base. Options such as WELL and Green Globes are becoming more frequently considered in most market sectors. However, LEED continues to see growth in the number of certification registrations and has not experienced any significant decreases, according to the report.
