Melba Santos Discusses Corridor Design and the Guest Journey with Hotel News Now

When it comes to hospitality design, owners and developers will rarely come looking for the latest design trends in the Guest Corridor areas of their hottest new hotel projects.  According to MONOGRAM Design Principal Melba Santos and other prominent designers, the awareness of importance and opportunity in these areas continues to grow as guests and owners expect more immersive guest experiences in every square foot of guest-facing space.

Santos, a veteran designer in the hospitality industry, provides insight on the various opportunities and applications for Guest Corridor areas that can expand upon the overall guest journey in Hotel News Now’s latest article, “Designers on the path to better guest corridors”.

An excerpt from the article on HNN:

“As technology has expanded, the designer has many more design possibilities, but at the same time it is less about the decorating and more about the whole interior architectural balance with thoughtful key elements that speak to the concept and make it memorable,” she said. “Today, you might see trends that also involve the guest experience such as hydration stations, unique signage/art opportunities, architectural lighting approach and hard surface flooring materials. The designer is able to create more impact with the ‘less-is-more’ approach.”
