BBGM Featured in Hotel Business Design

Hotel Business Design interviewed BBGM leadership for its People Issue, discussing the BBG-BBGM split, high-profile projects, and the promising outlook for the DC-based boutique design firm.

An excerpt from the article:

“As a group, we’re very open,” explained Giordano. “We don’t really have a top-down approach. We’re pretty much an organic organization in which people rise to their strengths. Obviously, there has to be some structure — accounting has to go out on time, people have to know whom they report to — but we keep that as fuzzy as possible. It would never work like a large organization.”

Taking a Goldilocks approach, BBGM’s size enables it to maintain its open philosophy while still attracting intriguing projects. “We’re a size that’s normal for a boutique firm to work around the world and get a lot of nice projects, but we’re not big enough to scare the 800-lb. gorillas into chomping on us. We’re in a sweet spot,” said Giordano.

And for BBGM, the outlook for creating those projects looks bright. “We’re excited about our future,” concluded Giordano. “It’s not a big change in who we are. We’re just excited to be back to a manageable size again — it’s been a boost in our business.”
