Our 30th Anniversary
In honor of BBGM's 30th anniversary, we'll be digging through the archives, pulling out all the gems, throwbacks and achievements we can get our hands on. For this first installment, a brief look at the rise of BBGM.
In our latest 30th Anniversary highlight, we're turning the clock back - 10 years to be precise.
2007 marked an interesting time for BBGM, and the world at large. Just prior to the 2008 recession, business was booming. BBGM was a well-established leader in the Architecture & Design industry by this time, with a strong foothold in the hospitality industry.
Although BBGM is widely known as a leader in hospitality design, the firm's repertoire also carries a wide array of projects for federal, state and local government entities. By 2007, BBGM had amassed an impressive list of high-profile projects in the DMV region, with projects ranging from Quantico to the Pentagon. Notable projects that received BBGM design services in 2007 included the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center in Virginia, the Pentagon Library & Conference Center, several structures at the Quantico Marine Corps Base, the Aircraft Research Support Facility in Patuxent River and the National Maritime Technology Information Center in Bethesda, to name a few.
In addition to completing notable projects in this timeframe, BBGM designs garnered no less than a dozen awards – in a single year – with merits from multiple organizations in several sectors. BBGM industry rankings and awards came in from around the world, recognizing both new construction and rehabilitation projects, including the following honors:
We take great pride in these accomplishments, and in providing services to those organizations that support our great nation. If the first few months are any indication, we believe that 2017 will be a stellar year, for BBGM, our associates and the industry as a whole.

As reported in the 2016 Giants 300 Report by Building Design + Construction, BBGM ranked #29 on the list of Hotel Sector Giants. Rounding out a trifecta of strong rankings, BBGM reinforces its longevity and status as a major player in the hospitality industry with this latest rankings update.
Touting major projects such as the $125M renovation of the Watergate Hotel, new construction of the Paséa Hotel & Spa and ongoing construction of the InterContinental DC Wharf, BBGM and MONOGRAM at BBGM continue to offer clients design solutions that complement the social, cultural and architectural traditions of the communities they serve.
BBGM was also named one of BD+C’s Top 100 Architecture Firms and Top Green Building Architecture Firms. BBGM and MONOGRAM at BBGM consistently rank among top design firms worldwide.

BBGM is hitting industry rankings in full force. Based out of Washington, DC, the internationally renowned Architecture & Interior Design firm has undergone an impressive transformation over the past couple of years, including a merge with MONOGRAM Hospitality Interiors out of Scottsdale, Arizona. The merger has strengthened the firm’s offering for their hospitality clientele, yielding the highest quality in turnkey design services and providing convenience for clients on both coasts in the US.
BBGM ranked #95 on Building Design + Construction’s Top 100 Architecture Firms List. As part of the annual BD+C Giants 300 Report, this “Top 100” list provides a comprehensive look at the upper echelon of the US Architectural Design industry.
Cracking the Top 30% of firms ranked, BBGM is proud to stand among giants. With a staff of less than 50, BBGM has taken on major projects over the past few years that many view as impressive feats for a boutique firm.
Recent projects include the $125M renovation of the Watergate Hotel, new construction of the InterContinental DC Wharf, and the renovation and conversion of the Kimpton Glover Park. Not to be outdone, their counterparts of MONOGRAM Hospitality Interiors have been hard at work, with recent projects in the limelight that include the newly constructed Paséa Hotel & Spa in Huntington Beach, and the Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia.

BBGM made the list of Top Hotel Architecture Firms for the second consecutive year. As part of the 2017 Building Design+Construction Giants 300 Report, BD+C culled this year's list down to the Top 60 Hotel Architecture Firms. BBGM ranked #33 on the list of Hotel Sector Giants.
To those familiar with BBGM’s work, the ranking comes as no great surprise. BBGM has completed several notable projects over the past year, including the InterContinental DC Wharf, which just celebrated its grand opening, the Kimpton Glover Park Hotel, the Hampton Inn Ballpark Hotel, and the dual-branded NoMa Homewood Suites & Hampton Inn – and that’s just in Washington, DC.
In addition to the firm’s strong portfolio of completed and ongoing work in the DC Metro area, BBGM recently announced that design is underway for the Residence Inn Silver Spring, while their MONOGRAM Hospitality Interiors team has several exciting projects on the boards.

For 40 years, the editors of Building Design+Construction have ranked the nation's largest AEC firms as part of the Giants 300 report. BBGM ranked #83 on the BD+C list of Top Multifamily Architecture Firms.

The InterContinental DC Wharf has also been garnering attention, with the property set to open on October 12th. BBGM served as the Architect for the prestigious hotel project on the southwest waterfront in DC.
