BBGM was retained to create the new headquarters for the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD). SRCD planned to relocate its HQ from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Washington, DC in order to recognize efficiencies and achieve closer proximity to the National Institute of Health (NIH).
Through the meticulous process of discovery meetings with the executive team and design charrette sessions, the design team came to the conclusion that SRCD’s Workplace Strategy needed to address a wide variety of meeting types and work styles. Inherent in the nature of SRCD’s operations, meetings range from small, casual gatherings to larger scale board meetings which occur throughout the course of the year, in addition to flexible day-to-day workspace requirements.
The traditional reception area was eliminated to create a “living room” space situated adjacent to a large communal kitchen, complete with high-top table. This family-style living room environment became the focus of the space, taking on its own personality as the “village center”. The private offices are also designed to support the public areas, reinforcing the overall living room concept. The space is designed to allow board gatherings and open meetings, as well as small or private get-togethers in a relaxed, hospitality-inspired atmosphere.
Comforting and transparent, the living room and “village center” concept is balanced by modern furnishings to complete the design. Decorative panels and draperies complement the writable walls strategically placed throughout the interiors. Natural light permeates the space, from the private offices to the central lounge and pantry, complementing, reflecting and expanding off of the healthy use of glass in the new SRCD headquarters.

Following its debut, the Paséa Hotel & Spa in Huntington Beach continues to garner press attention. The latest article from Hospitality Design goes into detail on design inspiration for the 250 ocean-view guestrooms and suites. MONOGRAM at BBGM Principal Kathryn Mickel provided additional insights on the essence of the design concepts, capturing the California allure of this newest addition to the Meritage Collection.

The design includes local artwork, distressed wood finishes, and teak accents. Included among the guestrooms are eight luxury one-bedroom suites and the 1,900-square-foot penthouse suite.

The Washington Business Journal walks us through a sneak peek of the renovation and repositioning of the former Savoy Suites, to the Kimpton Glover Park Hotel.
Led by BBGM, the renovation project entails a refresh of the guestrooms and public spaces, including an all-new lobby, restaurant, meeting spaces, and a 200-seat ballroom. As previously covered by Washington Business Journal, the hotel will also be home to one of DC's hottest new rooftop venues.

While the renovation of the rooms is complete — the hotel remained open during the revamp — some parts of the property are still a work in progress. The planned restaurant in the hotel, a coastal Italian restaurant from chef Michael Schlow, called Casolare, is set to open in July; and a 200-seat ballroom off the lobby, to be called the Walnut Room, isn’t quite finished yet. A lower-level gym space from Urban Athletic Club is also complete; hotel guests can work out there for free or join one of the classes at a discounted price, and the gym is also open to members from outside the hotel. The hotel is Kimpton’s 10th in the District and the first outside of the traditional urban core or other tourist-heavy neighborhoods such as Capitol Hill.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ June 10, 2016—MONOGRAM at BBGM, an internationally distinguished interior design firm based in Scottsdale, AZ, with an office in Washington, DC recently announced that there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony today at 5pm at the Paséa Hotel & Spa. The hotel is located at 21080 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach, CA. The opening party will begin at 6:30pm.
MONOGRAM began their designs for the project in 2014 and it involved 241 guestrooms, eight suites and one penthouse suite. The hotel offers several amenities including a spa, two restaurants, and a roof-top pool.
Huntington Beach is an emerging area rich in culture and offers many outdoor activities. The hotel’s owners are hoping that Paséa’s proximity to the pier and Surf City will draw some of the 16 million visitors the area receives each year. The hotel received high praise before it even opened its doors as CNN included it on its list of Best New Coastal Hotels.

BBGM is serving as Architect for a development being planned by IBG Partners and Wilco Residential which would bring 54 new condominiums to Georgetown. The project is in early planning stages, proposing a partial demolition of the existing two-story warehouses, with plans to restore the building’s shell and add additional levels.
An excerpt from Urban Turf:
The two-story warehouses on the 20,320 square-foot site would be partially demolished, with most of the exterior shell restored and an additional four stories plus penthouse built atop. Plans call for a 60 foot-tall building with 54 residences, comprised of two bedrooms and one bedroom- and two bedroom-plus-dens, ranging in size from 958 to 2,063 square feet. The design for the building looks similar to 3303 Water Street NW, a luxury residential building just down the block.
There would be one level of underground parking with 34 spaces accessible from Water Street; two vehicle elevators will transport residents to and from the garage entrance. An entry terrace and lobby will be accessible on 34th Street, which will be the second floor of the building based on the varying street elevation. The roof deck will have deck and green roof areas, along with both a swimming pool and a soaking pool.

R.D. Olson Development is scheduled to open the 271-room, full-service Irvine Spectrum Marriott at 7905 Gateway in Irvine, Calif., in summer of 2017.
Located next to the Courtyard by Marriott Irvine Spectrum, which opened in 2014 and was developed by R.D. Olson with Joseph Martelli Real Estate Investments, Irvine Spectrum Marriott will be the first ground-up construction project with Marriott’s new Millennial-focused design elements. Completing the construction is R.D. Olson Construction, while the project architect is WATG.
Monogram will do the interior architecture for the hotel, and Steven Langford Architects will do the interior architecture and design for the hotel’s restaurant and rooftop terrace.Irvine Spectrum Marriott's design will pay tribute to the local area, in this case the Irvine Ranch. The 15-story, 206,332-square-foot hotel will have 50 suites with kitchens, 121 king beds, and 100 double queen bed configurations. Guestrooms will have views of Saddleback Mountain, Laguna Canyon or Spectrum Center.
